  • Amy! How is your little boy? I have been wondering how his surgery went? Thank God that is over with. Hope you all are doing well.

  • Hi Amy, My name is Sara and i have a beautiful little girl born with down syndrome. She is two years old and she was born with out a crease on either hand. She had hers on her feet. Your little one sounds like my Se’anna. Se’anna was rolling around at 1 to 2 month she meet most of her milestones. I asked my dr. the same questions when she was first born. My dr. answer was its all up to her. we wont know how severe it would be. My case was a little different because atleast your dr. told you that he would know at 3 mine didnt give me an age. She told me it depends on how se’anna develops. At 5 month my babys therapy told me my baby was mild to moderate. Meaning she would be high function and would be able to pretty much one day live on her own. which i wish that day will never come. LOL. Your little angel sounds like he has a mild to moderate like my baby. Just like any child, they all develop different, but at the end there all the same. Gods little angels. You and I are so blessed that God choice us to mother our children born with down syndrome. It is important to get all the help you can . Early Intervention were the ones that helped me alot and a wonderful therapist named christine. She work with my baby and you can see the love in her eyes and the passion that she has to help the children. Early intervention helped my baby a great deal, I have a group of therapist that come to my house and help my little girl. At 18 month she started walking and i was a little afraid. I didnt think she would walk until she was a little older than that. She never crawl, she did what me and her dad like to call ” the spider walk”. Please if you have any questions maybe i can help you with something feel free to ask. P.S put God first and everything else will fall into place……………………

  • Dear Amy,

I read your post on ’New and Expecting Parents”.
As you mentioned that your baby’s pnly palm has single crease.
The Trisomy 21 confirmation should come from
’Karyotype’. I am not sure if your doctor has done it.
Karyotype basically gives the snapshot of the chromosome,
from that you will come to know if your son
has 3 chromosomes in his 21st pair.

Single crease and the other facial markers can be present in any other typical child as well.
Please get the Karyotype done for the confirmation.
