I am glad we are almost finished – we live in a rural school district and everything has been a battle….and we survived – I think!
Senior year of high school and looking at colleges!
Hello – Alex wants to go to college – and we are going to make it happen! Anyone have stories to share?
H – I am so glad to hear from you and learn about Amna and her siblings. Sounds like you are doing a lot of hard work – but it is paying off! I am sorry you have not found a school for Amna yet – but perhaps you will soon. I know Alex’s teachers used this book:

Hi – I share about Alex at
http://downsyndrometeenager.blogspot.com
you can read about what we did with early intervention etc…hope it helps
Hi there – I believe that early intervention is VERY important – our kids delays get more pronounced as they get older…the better the foundation the better they do – have you checked with your school district about 0 – 3 programs? Can you tell me what state you live in?
That is so great…..Alex has had good health except for a coartation repair when shew as 17 months old. She is now 18 – so I can try to be a resource – just like others were to us
! Are you in an early intervention program?
Hi welcome – your son looks adorable – how old is he – and how is he doing?
Hi -thanks for the friendship request – Daniel looks so cute…How old is he?
hi there – so glad you finally got the book and enjoyed it – about the teacher – it is sometimes hard for people who do not know about down syndrome to see past it…I guess our job as parents it to help others see that our kids are kids first and should be treated that way – so if you daughter is crying she is crying – it has nothing to do with…[Read more]

hi there – all kids cry when they leave their parents – as long as she is in good health she is just acting normal – perhaps the teacher has some suggestions – she needs to understand it is not about the DS your daughter is just like all other kids! good luck
HI there – not Colorado!! We had great services when we lived in IL and NJ is supposed to be good too – but don’t let that make your decision – there are so many opportunities everywhere – support groups, not for profits – growing awareness everywhere
Sometimes it is hard for me to recognize whether Alex is acting a certain way becuase she is a teenage girl or because she has down syndrome. Most of the times i can point to her being frustrated about something and not be able to explain it…so i think perhaps as our kids learn to speak we must look at if her behavoir is normal young child…[Read more]
Hi – you are in such a tough position – sometimes proving other people wrong is the only recourse we have. As you continue to educaiton your daughter other folks will see her successes and perhaps recoginize they were wrong. Good Luck!
