Hello everyone..I wanted to post a video of my son Teddy. It has a song that I love that makes me tear up every time. I wanted to kick this multimedia experience off by posting something of my own. I absolutely encourage you all to post your own pictures and videos. As the site grows it will become easier. Please enjoy ..

hello, my name is ladonia. my son is two and he is the love of my life. my husband and i have five other children and he(patrik dewayne) is the only boy. i loved watching your movie tonight. i saw a lot of patrik in your boy. the way that he laughed, walked and played with his sibling. today we had to take patrik to his ds doctor and everything is going great. he is only a couple of months behind his age group. sorry for talking on and on but sometimes i need to just talk to people that live like we do.

OMG! Teddy is so cute! I did get tears in my eyes watching your video… tears of happiness! My baby boy has DS, he”ll be 4 months old next week and I love him so much; he is such a gift to me! I log into this website late at night when everyone is asleep and I just read everyone’s stories and it really does help me get through my emotions and my fears; I don’t feel so lonely. I’ve never participated in this website yet, but your video just made my night and I wanted to tell you that. You showed me that my son can have a normal life and be happy…. my son is so loved by his family, just like I can see Teddy is, and we’ll do what ever it takes to make him as happy as Teddy is and have a great life! Thank You!
I have a little guy, Jack, who is 15 months. I just want to thank you for sharing the happiness and joy your family celebrates and for letting others see Teddy’s beautiful smile. He absolutely made my day!
15 months…that seems like a life time ago
thanks for the comment. You made my day also…I hope I get to know you and Jack in the future.

hi! my name is yadira! I’ve seen your video and it too made me tear up. I have a 4 month old baby (amber) who has DS. This does not run on either my husbands or my family, so to us DS is new. When i first found out Amber had DS, i broke down in tears, hoping that it will all be a dream-a terrible dream. But its been 4 months since we found out and i accept it… I loved your video because it taught me something… it taught me something i cannot explain. Thanks for posting the video. May God bless your baby and your entire family.
Hi! I just singned up for this site! I’m Yadira again, i don’t have friends here so how do i add you!?
Yadira,
I understand your feelings; we were also very scared and confused. What we have found is that Teddy is a great little boy and he has a bright future. We will do everything we can to prepare him for a great life just as we will for all of our kids.
Congratulations on your baby girl…Things are going to be great…
Justin
What a wonderful little boy. I loved the video. Teddy looks like he is such a joy and so much fun to be around. Thank you for sharing the video with all of us. It is such a help to see other families with children with DS. As another commented about this video, it makes us feel like we are not alone.
Laura,
Thank you very much for your comment. I’m so glad to meet you and your sweet daughter and I have to admin, I love reading your blog as I feel it adds so much value to both new and expecting parents. I will be adding a forum to the site in the next couple of days which I think will further enhance communication and community as well as hopefully help with our very unique experiences.
Thanks you very much!
Justin
My sister has downs!! And I consider all these kids a blessing to America!! This is the greatest viedo!!! So Emotional!! God Bless You ALL!!
I absolutely love your video.your son seems so full of love and happiness.what an inspiration.
loved your video
Thank you very much!
I know is very difficult to deal with difficulties in life.
but some times no matter what we do, what we think, how we act. It seems that is no answer to what we think or feel. Things happened
and there is no power in the universe to help us. So there is only one thing for us to try to do live every secound, minute, hour, day, to our capacity since we have no way out.
what else! thats life and some time life seema not fare. but what we can do. take day by day even secound after secound to coupe with live. I do not know how to write what I feel. but the important thing is that we still alive for our kids. And we should do our best day by day. If there is someone in this universe to have the answer to have a better life please let me know!
I loved the video. I saw much of our son Joe in Teddy. I’ve uploaded some videos of Joe onto my blog but I haven’t figured out how to get the Youtube videos to embed properly. Any hints that you could provide in that direction would be appreciated.
I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed this video. My brother Austin has DS. He is 7 now & he’s doing great! Your boy looks happier than ever and I can tell that you’re doing everything possible to make him experience all the joys that the world brings. Austin’s always laughing and smiling, probably the happiest little boy I’ve ever known. You can’t help but just love all children with downs because they’re always happy and they’re just so lovable. Your idea to create this website was amazing, and I thank you for that because now others will know how about this and can even get some advice and help. Take care, I wish you & your family the best.
How sweet it is!!! I have a 5yr old with DS. He is my world & my entire life! I believe in my heart that GOD put Down Syndrome children in this world to teach “normal” people how to love unconditionally. My son, Joshua, has taught me so very much about life & what kind of a person I want to be!!!!
Thank you for your video!!
much love,
Cindy
You are very welcome…I could not be more pleased that you dropped by and joined our little community.

justin

Thank you so much for the kind words…Please come back and visit.

I just came across your video and I too was very impressed. Our daughter Lindsay is 11 now and even though she has her moments our lives wouldn’t be complete without her. I originally thought God gave us more than we could handle but I’ve come to realize that he brought her into our lives so that we would all become better people. Like Teddy she has a profound effect on everybody that meets her.
Continued success with your site. I’ll send some pictures at a later date (when I figure out how to do it)

What an inspiration you are to post such a loving video about your son Teddy! My husband came into the room as I was watching this and asked me to replay it. He commented how neat and real it was and asked to see it a second time. We also have a little girl with Down syndrome and she is the love of our lives. Thank you for inspiring us to make our own video tomorrow. By the way, congrats on your beautiful little baby too.

Justin
.., i love teddy.. he is an angel who can’t enter heaven for now… take good care of him..
hi my name is daniele.
your son teddy is so cute!!!!
I have a 5 years old boy with downs and I heard a lot bad things from doctors when I found out I was having a down syndrome baby. I didn’t get sad or scared at any time but the thing that made me feel this way and no doctors advise me is the discrimination from people every where toward our kids.
Thank you Daniel,
I would love to see a video or some pictures little guy…There is a place to post some on your “profile” page. Thanks for the comment. I can’t wait to get to know you better.
Justin

Hello, just wanted to say SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL!!! I have a 3 yr. old grandson with DS and he is my HEART!!!
Teddy is so beautiful. My middle child has Down Syndrome, he is 23. He has taught me so much in the past 23 years, more than I ever taught him I’m sure. Children with Down Syndrome are just so full of love and affection. I love Teddy’s beautiful smile and laugh. I believe that God blesses parents to whom he gives children with Down Syndrome. Take care of your precious gift.
That was beautiful. This is my 1st time on this site…my Christopher is 6 years old and has DS. Thank you for sharing.

c est trés jolie la vedeo tedy et les enfants comme lui méritent tout le bonheur du monde
He is so adorable. I believe God gives us children for different reasons. I think when children are born with disabilities, it’s to make us stronger and God knows who to entrust these kids to. You’re obviosly one of God’s warriors, it must be a pleasure to have such a wonderful little boy in your life.
Thank you so much Bonnie… I am so touched.
Justin
What a delightful video. I visited the website as I have Special Needs qualifications and many years experience and am hoping to transfer across from my present employment to working as a tutor of a young ds child in the emirates where I presently reside. Enjoy Teddy he is indeed a beautiful little boy. I have two relatives with down syndrome children, one already in adulthood and they are much loved and precious.

That which we do today will echo throughout the generations to come
One of our wonderful visitors wrote in asking for activities to do with a group of people to help them get an understanding of what it might be like to have Down syndrome. The activities included are great for parents to present to their child’s class, a teacher to present to their class, or even a student to present to their class as a project. We appreciate this educator’s commitment to making the world a better and more accommodating. Thank you for everything that you do.

Featured Blogs – The Ordinary Life of an Extraordinary Girl
I finally did it — I hid the gross, disgusting, ugly ,worn-out, fake crocs that Alex has been wearing every day for 2 1/2 years. It took a lot of guts – but I am proud of myself (at least for now).
When my kids were little, I thought it was sort of cute if they wanted to wear the same pair of jeans or shirt for more than two days in a row. However, Alex is 16 and these dreadful blue shoes have got to go. She should not have even worn them for two weeks in a row.
Many people I know with down syndrome have flat, wide feet. I am not sure exactly why that is – but as a result Alex has a funny step and walks with her feet pointed outwards. As with everything in her life, Alex has learned to compensate, and walking or even running – as evidenced by the fact we are going to participate in track and field at the National Olympic Games – is not a problem for her…

Long Island Buddy Walk – Alexander’s Angels – Down Syndrome Research and Treatment Foundation
Let’s welcome the latest addition to the DownSyndrome.com team, Laura Suer. Laura has accepted a position as a participating volunteer and editorial staff member who will focus on partner outreach and strategy. She has been active on the site since its inception blogging at the URL tri21.downsyndrome.com. One of Laura’s first coups (I’m sure one of many) is to establish a relationship with Alexander’s Angels who runs the Long Island Buddy Walk and has a great future of providing much needed services to the constituents of Long Island.
Thank you Laura for bridging the relationship with such a wonderful organization. If you live in the Long Island area or if you have the inclination to help their wonderful support group, please consider providing assistance in the form of either volunteerism or financial support. Additionally, the Down Syndrome Research and Treatment Fund has an online store that further supports important DS research that hopefully will benefit all of our loved ones in the future. Support for DSRTF can be in the form of purchasing items from the Down Syndrome Store.

What is Down Syndrome?
Down syndrome is a genetic disorder that delays in physical and intellectual development. The condition varies in severity, so developmental problems may range from mild to serious.
Down syndrome is the most common genetic cause of severe learning disabilities in children, occurring in one in every 800 infants. Every year, as many as 6,000 babies are born with Down syndrome in the United States. The condition is named after John Langdon Down, the doctor who first identified the syndrome.
There’s no medical cure for this condition. But increased understanding of Down syndrome and early interventions make a big difference in the lives of both children and adults with Down syndrome.
