We have an author among us

Many of you have heard me gush over the writings of one of the members of our little community here. Margaret “Gary” Bender has been chronicling the life her daughter Alex since it was just a nascent little blog.

Well, she has graduated from a blogger to a published author. Her accounts of raising a daughter who has Down syndrome not only provides levity and enjoyment but, for many of us acts as a training manual. Alex continues to inspire and provides a perspective about teenagers with Down syndrome.

Gary shot me a note a little while back letting me know that she would be published and she was going to acknowledge Downsyndrome.com in the book. Needless to say I was blown away. What a great complement. Gary has always been a great story teller so I can only imagine how good the book will be.

If you want a taste of what you  can expect, Gary dually blogs at both at The Ordinary Life of an Extraordinary Girl and Down Syndrome Teenager. I encourage you to visit her blogs and enjoy her stories and of course get to know Alex and family a little better.

If you want to purchase the book, you can order it from this link below.  Congratulations! We all wish you the best of luck.

From Grief to Celebration, How One Family Learned to Embrace the Gift of Down Syndrome
